We are a very heterogeneous working group, but complementary at the same time, since we are all specialists in something, but we make use of the work of others. Thus, our association has coaches, teachers, psychologists, ICT experts, physiotherapy, physical trainers, monitors, all of them with enormous experience in their field, since they have made publications worldwide, participated in conferences and with enormous training in the training of professionals who work with young people.

We have connection with the school through our experts in classroom work, but we also have connection with non-formal education, through extracurricular activities, we try to educate in values and promote with our parallel associations a better transition to the young adult life, we must help them from all fields and in that sense we work to know what their true centers of interest and propose answers through invisible training, which leads to healthy and responsible habits of young people with society.

We promote meetings between young people, through sports competitions, days of coexistence, cultural days with didactic learning purpose, informative talks on aspects such as nutrition or the danger of social networks, hiking and camping, through the relationship with leisure activities companies, multi-sport camps, workshops, etc. All with the aim of helping to improve the training of these meetings and promote training in values of young people.

We also collaborate with institutions, such as municipalities in the organization of sporting events and cultural events, such as charity races or concerts of bands of different associations. We have experience in the participation of different European projects where we try to advise, train and act on the different problems that affect young people, promoting healthy attitudes and habits that favor the transition to a responsible adult life and worked on values that constitute the tool stronger in which they build their own personality, empowering an active youth and making decisions for themselves.

We believe that if we help young people to be better trained in values, we will make them much more autonomous.

NOL

The Nautical Club of Limnos (NOL) was established in 1987 by a group of engaged Limnians, with the aim to complete the great nautical tradition of our island. The Club validated its status and legal entity by the Greek State in the same year. Due to its intense activity from 1990 onwards and the many and great distinctions it has achieved, NOL is the “jewell” and the pride of all Limnos.

Despite the remote location (isolated island in North Aegean Sea), very low state funding, the Club has developed rich and remarkable activity, it has achieved significant contribution and continues to give its potential present to this day. The purpose of the Club is to spread the adoption of nautical sports and the development of the athletic spirit and the love for the sea. NOL has the following athletic departments: Rowing, Sailing, Canoe/Kayak, Technical Swimming, Underwater Activity. NOL counts 200 athletes, namely at least 50 permanent athletes yearly, plus at least 150 at the summer period (early June to early September). Moreover, NOL in order to further enhance its international activities, participates in the Erasmus+ CoWay project (Collaboration Gender Way of Coastal Rowing, code: 101090819) for the development of costal rowing.

Finally, NOL, over the last 3 years, has succeeded to renew its equipment through a series of grats given by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the General Secretariat for Sports of the Hellenic Government, due to its achievements and its significant contribution in nautical sports promotion and development. Thanks to this funding, NOL has succeeded to overcome the difficulties of the past and to create the proper infrastructure for development of the sailing department.
